Happy Thanksgiving

This week America will pause to offer thanks for its many blessings.  We do have much for which to be grateful, even in this slow economy.

Our firm has begun and continues a wonderful tradition.  While many will likely mail Christmas or holiday greeting cards, our mailing is a Thanksgiving card.  We mail the cards around the world to express thanks to our clients, without whom we would not exist.

What makes this more meaningful is an art contest for the card design.  For several years we have joined with the Boys and Girls Clubs in the Spartanburg area.  They ask their students to draw an original art piece depicting the Thanksgiving season, and then our staff and clients vote for the winner.  Just before the holidays we have a reception in our lobby where we recognize the winner and present him/her with a $100 gift certificate to Toys R US, along with a few other items.

This has been a wonderful experience.  We help the club, a special child and our community.  And the walls of our office are now decorated with some wonderful local art.

I wish all of my fellow CPAs a wonderful Thanksgiving, a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful set of holidays.
