About the first of March I will begin my “After April 15th List.” This list will vary from tax projections, amending returns, completing NOL carry back returns, cleaning up work papers, starting non-profit audits…the list goes on. Most people are willing to wait.
Of course, my first priority is my family, as they pay the price of “tax season” as well. After April 15th, I can finally give some quality attention to upcoming vacation plans. And with 38 acres around my house, there is plenty of mowing, trimming, garden preparation, pruning, mulching…the list goes on. Thank goodness my firm gives a long weekend holiday just after April 15th.
Today, I’m challenging each member of SCACPA to join me in placing our profession back on the top of our “after April 15th lists.” Perhaps you are a SCACPA officer or a committee member and have enjoyed a short sabbatical from SCACPA duties. Perhaps you have a committee meeting coming up soon. As you prepare to delve into your lists, remember that CPA Day at the State House is just around the corner. While we have been tackling “busy season,” certain SCACPA members and all of the SCACPA staff have been coordinating this most exciting and important event.
Our legislative committee and our state legislature have been busy this year; the legislative updates have been amazing. (Thanks to all who have done such a great job over the last few months.) Now it is time for all of us to chip in, don a chef’s apron and extend appreciation to our legislators with a picnic lunch on the grounds of the State House next Wednesday, April 28. (FYI: all of this is wrapped in very affordable CPE, timely socials and fellowship with our peers.)
As you prioritize your “After April 15th” to-do list, please place CPA Day at or near the top. See you in Columbia, if not before!
